A methodological framework for analysis of participatory mapping data in research, planning, and management

Today, various methods are applied to analyze the data collected through participatory mapping, including public participation GIS (PPGIS), (PGIS), and collecting volunteered geographic information (VGI). However, these lack an organized framework describe guide their systematic applications. Majority of published articles on mapping apply a specific subset analyses that fails situate within broader, more holistic context research practice. Based expert workshops literature review, we synthesized existing analysis approaches. In this article, present categorized into three phases: Explore, Explain, Predict/Model. Identified have been highlighted with empirical examples. The article particularly focuses increasing applications online PPGIS web-based surveys for collection. We aim both novice experienced practitioners in field mapping. addition providing understanding possibilities, also discuss potential directions future developments data.
